Background
Tom Puyaubert of Bodegas Exopto is a breath of fresh air for Rioja. He strongly focuses on farming and the health of his vines. He uses older, larger-format oak that can be integrated into the wine, resulting in more pure expressions of Rioja! Exopto has a total of 22 hectares of organically farmed old vineyards on the slopes of Rioja Alta and Rioja Oriental subregions. He is one of the guiding forces of the 'return to terroir' in Rioja and is one to watch.
Tasting Note
This is Bozeto's entry-level wine made up of 60% Garnacha and the rest, Tempranillo and Garciano, all fermented in a combination of concrete and stainless steel with a small amount of semi-carbonic maceration for a little extra lift. Resulting in a very fresh and lively Rioja, with bright flavours of raspberry, wild strawberry, and sleek tannins.
